Synopsis
After rumors of bad luck and unfortunate events occurring to anyone who goes to the Sweet Tooth Candy Shop begin spreading around Paris, our heroes business begins to decline so it is now up to them to track down the mysterious culprit to put a stop to their evil deeds!
Plot
Theo arrives to class to see that Umeko hasn't shown up yet. His friend TBA comes by to mention that she might have gotten sick and Theo begins to feel sad as he recalls learning that Umeko was actually Aurélie the prior day.
Meanwhile, at a cold snowy-esque location is a house. This house hides the frustrated Aurélie as she thinks about the fight and her broken rod, which the boy observing her begins to tease her about. The boy -Édouard- decides that because of how lame she is to have gone against Mademoiselle Obscurité's orders and fail, he will take her place. Édouard then takes off after annoying Aurélie some more.
It's been raining and the group discuss Aurélie's disappearance at Sweet Tooth. Danny reminds them to focus on the shop though, hoping to raise their spirits. However, business has been down recently and they have no idea why that is; even by the third day when the rain clears, nobody has still shown up.
While walking through the school hallway, a cup on a string suddenly drops by Louis. He curiously picks it up after realizing it's coming from the female members of his fanclub, who are standing on the row of stairs above it holding the other end. One girl asks if he is going to Sweet Tooth and Louis stops to speak with them before heading to the shop, where he produces more cans on string to hand to the group while explaining to them the nasty rumors someone began to spread about the shop. It's been said that by eating their sweets, you will be dumped by your lover, you'll fight with your family, and your jokes will perform poorly. The bakers initially panic, only to rationalize how dumb this sounds. While they can't ignore the fact that several people seem to have listened to these rumors anyway, Theo encourages the others to remain hopeful that their customers will return soon enough.
As this is going on, Édouard complains while observing several outfits in a clothing shop. Nothing suits his tastes, it's all lame. Iru -his stuffed toy- agrees with him and he picks her up as one of the workers comes by to offer him some assistance. Through Iru, Édouard tells the woman of how eating sweets from Sweet Tooth will ruin ones fashion sense. Before leaving, she spreads this rumor to the residents who are currently surrounding the area.
A few more days pass and still no customers. Despite this, Theo still heads back into the kitchen to prepare sweets, seriously working hard to produce some crepes as he thinks about how their feelings were baked into their sweets to reach others. He's sure they can do it again. The others appear to worry for Theo as he's been gone for a while now, and when he exits the room later to announce that he has failed, Louis suggests they call it a day.
Everyone takes off noting how upset Theo was while trying to ponder what they can do about their tough spot they have suddenly been put in. They pass right by Édouard without a second glance, unaware of the big smile on his face.
Back at their house, Theo and Danny are watching a program about an upcoming patisserie prodigy from Tokyo named Keinosuke Hagiwara. Theo becomes troubled as he learns that this boy is seventeen, his age, and the shop he works at always has a huge line. He's come to France now, so everyone will get a chance to try his famous sweets. Depressed by the turn of events -and the belief they can't keep up with Keinosuke- Theo mopes around in his bedroom, blaming himself for not being a better sweets chef. He strongly believes that if he was, then the rumors might not have mattered at all.
The following day, Theo gloomily walks around town until he spots Louis nearby, handing out some fliers for their shop. He also discovers that Marinette has asked his fanclub to investigate, and when he heads to Sweet Tooth, he's greeted by Jules wielding a large amount of Flavour Spark, explaining how he was cleaning the pot it resided in earlier. Theo then heads into the kitchen to find Céline preparing a mille crepe, believing that their feelings will reach the customers with as many layers as it has. Pekorin spots Theo and pulls him outside to reveal what Jules was working on: large figures of their Junkies.
As he thinks about everyone's efforts, Theo realizes that he too must carry on trying, and she suddenly has a spark of inspiration. He transforms Céline's crepe into a giraffe and decorates the shop outside, using the fliers and figures, along with a big inflatable giraffe. He compares their group to the tall standing giraffe, who remain together and always look ahead, ready to shout "Yippee!". With the shop reopened, the group prepare some of the Giraffe crepe for sampling and head out to try to drum up business, but nobody seems interested.
That is until Theo spots a young girl who is observing the giraffe in admiration. She goes on to ask if his sweets will really make her tell bad jokes, and Theo tries to explain that it's only a tall tale while offering her a crepe as Danny makes giraffe puns. His jokes aren't very funny but they manage to please the child, who accepts the sweet and loves it very much. Theo begins to cry as he tells her that the rumors shouldn't matter when the sweets taste as good as they do, and this inspires the bakers to keep trying. Customers soon begin to trickle in as they observe the display that the group has prepared and see the girl enjoying herself.
Meanwhile, Édouard is greatly displeased by this harmonious return. He prepares to spread more rumors when Marinette suddenly grabs his hand to stop him, then she pulls him over to the others to reveal him as their culprit. The group express shock as Marinette takes out a drawing that her fanclub made based on the descriptions people gave to them earlier, the boy on it resembles Édouard. They demand an explanation but he complains over their fun before raising Iru to suck out the Flavour Spark from the shop, the young girl, their mille crepe, and the surroundings. Édouard then transforms into a monster form (much like Aurélie) whilst Iru turns into a beast-like creature as well and the frightened citizens run away as the bakers transform into the Snack Warriors.
Édouard sends the larger Iru towards the portal he had summoned and tells her to return to Obscurité to deliver the Flavour Spark. Gommeux demands she stop as they block her path, but in his haste to attack it he's quickly overtaken. Guimauve and Frites use their Flavour Spark to try to hold it back while Bonbon attacks Édouard directly. They try to get answers but Iru breaks free and leaps up to approach the portal, only for Gommeux to break free from his binding and cast Gommeux Decoration, throwing Iru to the ground. Édouard is surprised by this as Gommeux tells him off for thinking the harassment would be enough to stop him from making the sweets that he loves so much. If they want to be the ones who steal Flavour Spark, then they will be the ones to defend it.
The group then proceed to use Candy Heart Attack before things return to normal and Édouard tells the heroes that he will beat them next time. They aren't enough to stop his love for Obscurité, and he only came by to greet them for now before he takes off and the group are forced to let things go for now, returning to normal.
The following day is very sunny and Theo stands with Pekorin outside of the shop, delighted to get to work. Within town, Keinosuke stands in observation and he takes off his sunglasses with a smile.
