The King of Time is the first episode of Power Rider: Time Voyager. It is the first part to the two-part premiere to the introduction of the main character Nathan, the Time Keeper, the present-day and future Chronos and the backstory from the future.
Synopsis[]
Hoping to save the future from an unstoppable threat, a temporal orb, the Time Keeper, chooses a brave teenager miraculously possessed of temporal powers to become the ultimate Power Rider, the one who will save time and the future.
Plot[]
In 2060, humanity is under the iron fist of the ruthless King of Time, Chronos. One day, a fierce battle led by the resistance erupts, but Chronos effortlessly annihilates them with his seemingly omnipotent powers. Watching this desperate situation from the temporal dimension, a cosmic orb, the Time Keeper, realizes that something is wrong, even wondering if this will be the end of time. With no other choice, he creates the Time Belt and the Time Voyager Watch and decides to return to the past in the hopes of finding someone capable of defeating Chronos and saving this devastating future. To do this, he was observing at his floating screen, identifying the different candidates for the role but unfortunately none are suitable before finally finding the ideal person.
In 2025, 35 years ago, a 16-year-old boy named Nathan Harris wakes up in his bedroom. He turns off his phone's alarm, leaves his room, and kisses his mother on the cheek. Making breakfast, he laments his first day in high school, complaining about how much he didn't miss classes after a truly memorable summer. His mother tries to reassure Nathan that everything will be fine, just after his siblings, Audrey and Vincent, walk by and call him friendly insults (Audrey an idiot and Vincent a loser), something they often do among themselves, and they also kiss their mother on the chek and said goodbye to her before leaving. After they leave, Nathan leaves as well, just after saying goodbye to his father. Later, while Nathan is on his way to school, he discovers a strange object, one that the Time Keeper had purposely left there before his arrival, and decides to take it with him.
In 2024, in a city district, a detransformed and younger Chronos arrives and complains about what Earth was like 35 years ago. Seeking to gain power much earlier but unable to obtain the original powers of the old Riders, Chronos created Monster Rider Fusion by activating the Monster Fusion Watch, prompting the latter to attack a karateka and a tennis player in order to gain more powers and declaring them a "not Best Match" as he walked off.
Back in 2025, it was the end of school and Nathan was about to go home when suddenly the Monster Fusion of 2025 appeared in town and made a bunch of people disappear one by one, scaring them and passing them by, which made them all run away. Fusion was about to attack Nathan, however, he was miraculously saved and transported in the temporal dimension by the Time Keeper himself. Inquired and wondering where he was, the cosmic entity introduced himself to him and explained the situation. Nathan, confused, didn't believe him so much and found the whole story strange and illogical, knowing most certainly that it was impossible for him to obtain temporal powers. The Time Keeper explains to him that his new powers will have something to do with the fact that he is the chosen one by the temporal dimension during his search for his various candidates then showed him different sequences from former Kamen and Power Riders during their old fights (including Fusion, Magician, Astro, Legacy and Ancient). Nathan, still stunned by what he had just seen, could only be shocked by all this. The Time Keeper then entrusts him with a Time Belt, having enough confidence in him to defeat this threat. He also explains to him that the Time Belt will only activate if he truly desires it and if his Time Voyager Watch activates. Seeing time running out, the latter immediately sends Nathan back to his time and adopts a human form in order to be able to camouflage himself among humans.
In the city, Nathan sees his siblings being attacked by Fusion. At that moment, Nathan is thrown into chaos, wondering what to do while his siblings scream for help. Nathan, having no choice, puts the Time Belt on his waist and transforms for the first time into Power Rider Time Voyager. Once transformed into Time Voyager, Nathan then defeats the monster with his new powers. But unknown to him, Chronos appears behind the bush where the Monster Fusion Watch was dropped. He takes it with him and promises Time Voyager that one day he will have his revenge on him. In the distance, without anyone seeing them, a portal opens and a strange red robot piloted by Sammy, as Power Rider Omega, and Alya appears and lands. Once outside, Alya asks Sammy if they have indeed arrived in the right time. Checking his coordinates, Sammy assures her that they have, and that they must find the Time Keeper at all costs to save their future from destruction before heading off into the unknown.
Nathan is overjoyed to be a Power Rider, but the Time Keeper wisely tells him that this new power will change his life and that he will have to face new challenges and problems with each of his missions. In anticipation of the return of the avatars or the arrival of a new Monster Rider, the Time Keeper tells Nathan that he will be called upon to protect time, but not alone. He also tells him finally that altering the flow of time will bring them very big consequences. Nathan, now confident and ready to take on this challenge, replies that he is now ready. Delighted with his decision, the Time Keeper tells him that he has a lot to learn and explains everything he has to know, leaving Nathan very excited.
