This episode is the last of the then currently ongoing story arc that began in episode 12 and features Keinosuke Hagiwara's first transformation into Snack Warrior Gâteau.
Synopsis
Due to hearing how his actions have affected Kirarin, Keinosuke/Pikario suddenly fell into despair. Mademoiselle Obscurité takes her chance to bring the young prodigy over to the dark side, but Kirarin and Theo have different plans. Will the two of them be able to bring Keinosuke back to the team or will he end up becoming a subordinate of the shadows?
Plot
After the events at Strawberry Mountain, which revealed Keinosuke being the fairy Pikario and Aurélie's true identity as Pikario/Keinosuke's younger twin sister Kirarin, the Snack Warriors confront her inside the Sweet Tooth Candy Shop. Marinette tries to get Aurélie to apologize, but she refuses. Theo has to stop Marinette from taunting Kirarin who is getting angry. Louis then tries to warm up the atmosphere by asking Kirarin about Mademoiselle Obscurité's plans, only to get an unsettling response from her on the latters intentions of converting the whole world into darkness, and explains how Obscurité had turned her rage and hatred into her rod thus granting Kirarin her powers.
Danny is horrified to hear Kirarin's vow to plunge into darkness and reminds Theo about the seriousness of the situation, while Pekorin begs Kirarin to turn good and make sweets with them, only to be rudely flung away by her. Kirarin also denies how Obscurité manipulated the Flavour Spark Thieves when Louis asks him about those incidents. Pekorin then urges Pikario, who is hiding in the corner in sadness, to convince Kirarin. However, he prepares to leave after transforming into Keinosuke, saying that he has to head to his own shop, and tells Theo that there is no way he can become a Snack Warrior because he has failed to understand his sister. As Keinosuke dashes away in emotional pain, Theo is about to catch up when Louis prevents him and says that he should give Keinosuke some space so that he can clear his head.
The next day, Theo and Pekorin notice that there are no lines at Keinosuke's shop and it appears that it is temporarily closed, so Pekorin suggests finding their other friends to check how Keinosuke is getting on. Then upon visiting his home, everyone discovers that he is dwelling in sorrow and loses his motivation to make sweets, as he continues to criticize himself. Kirarin is ticked off knowing that she has to visit her older brother, so Jules has to stop him from avoiding the situation. Louis then observes the table that has plates of failed animal-looking sweets, to which Keinosuke admits that even when imitating Theo's style there was never any flash.
All of a sudden, his younger sister flies out of Jules' grasp and mocks him for being a prodigy who has been rendered into helplessness and believes that he has finally understood her misery. Céline is shocked to hear her insulting Keinosuke, but Kirarin explains that she still has some hatred toward him. To demonstrate herself, Kirarin instantly bakes macarons in front of everyone, causing Keinosuke to recall something. However, the perfect macarons then turn gray and their Flavour Spark s nowhere to be seen. Kirarin admits that she is already lost in darkness and can't return to her former self, which has been the major reason she didn't cook when she was with the group.
Once again, Keinosuke beats himself up for being the mistake and labeling himself as the worst brother ever. As he shouts in depression, Obscurité appears in front of everyone. While Louis proceeds to protect the others, Kirarin recognizes Obscurité herself. Taking advantage of Keinosuke's self-loathing, Obscurité forces him into becoming her servant by brutally absorbing all of his Flavour Spark, causing a force that is powerful enough to start dragging everyone inside. Desperate, Kirarin and Theo leap into the shadows, and Obscurité claims that her newest servant is born as she departs.
Elsewhere, Édouard still bears a grudge against the Snack Warriors and mutters that Aurélie is responsible for making him feel like a fool, when the dark sphere gets his attention. As the four other heroes arrive to break the sphere, Édouard becomes enraged and blasts them brutally. Realizing that he is still far too weak against the othes, he desperately pleads for Obscurité to grant him more power, so she powers up Iru with Édouard's own envy and commands him to prove himself through sucking him into Iru, and he is ready to confront the remaining Snack Warriors.
Back in the sphere, Kirarin picks up her rod and mask before transforming into Aurélie, informing Theo that the sphere itself represents her brother's inner darkness. As Theo catches up with her, they both discover Keinosuke, who is completely surrounded by his despair and calls himself unforgivable. He continues to confirm the abandonment of his dream as a patissiere so that he can stay with Kirarin, revealing his utter hopeless and dim eyes. This time, Aurélie is concerned with her brothers situation, and tries to convince him to rethink about his choice, but he doesn't have the mind to change his stance.
Realizing her own mistake, Aurélie hopes to persuade Keinosuke by telling him how she has found that surpassing him while he is in pain is meaningless, but Keinosuke becomes more indecisive and cries in agony, and the trio falls into the void of the cracked ground. Theo fortunately transforms into Snack Warrior Gommeux in time and catches Aurélie, who worries about her brother's whereabouts.
Meanwhile, the remaining Snack Warriors struggle in battle against Édouard, who is fused with Iru, only to be hit by his violent blows, though they still have faith in Theo/Gommeux. Back in the sphere, Aurélie and Gommeux and safely. Aurélie tries to act cool by ordering Gommeux to let her go, but Gommeux is glad to hear her expressing her true feelings. Aurélie still determinedly searches for Keinosuke and they notice a kitchen full of equipment for cooking. Aurélie still rejects Gommeux's optimism by declaring that feelings can never get through the dead sweets she makes, but Gommeux insists that she won't know the results unless she gives it a shot, as she is the only one who can save Keinosuke. Aurélie, however, apologizes to Gommeux, because she thinks that he has a better understanding of Keinosuke than her, and starts painfully recalling how she used to bake some macarons for her brother to lift his spirits up before they went to Paris and respectively gained their human forms. To prove her point, Aurélie decides to bake another batch of macarons, though Gommeux is glad that she is taking a new step forward, until Keinosuke reiterates how he has long given up on his dream.
As Keinosuke's despair spreads at an alarming speed, Gommeux has to use his Candy Mixer to create a gummy barrier to buy time for Aurélie to complete her batch of macarons. Even though her dessert still lack their Flavour Spark, Aurélie gives it everything she has to prevent Keinosuke's despair from spreading by presenting the plate in front of his brother. Moved by her sincerity, he takes a bite and regains his spark of life. According to Gommeux, Aurélie's macarons are filled with her love and care for Keinosuke, which is the main reason of him returning to normal. Another part of her memory flashes in her mind, and she regrets her mistakes again, but Keinosuke is still grateful for what she has done for him. As he promises her to make more sweets to cheer people up, he begins to glow unexpectedly.
The four other Snack Warriors have a huge disadvantage against Édouard, as he rampages through the town for his own amusement. Abruptly, Obscurité's sphere cracks at the same time. Not only do Gommeux and Aurélie exit the sphere, but Keinosuke also uses his Flavour Spark to create a sweet, and with his friends' assistance as well as his sisters macarons, he makes a pretty looking pegasus-themed shortcake. Obscurité, however, is furious about how her plan to hurt Keinosuke has been foiled and shoots a sharp arrow aimed for him, but Aurélie takes the intended hit, which results in her becoming mortally wounded, even though she reassures Keinosuke to continue the process of making the dessert while falling down at a high speed.
As Keinosuke finally completes his Pegasus Shortcake, it turns into a purified version of the Succulent Shortcake Junkie and he earns his Sweets Pact as well, providing him the opportunity to transform into his alter ego Snack Warrior Gâteau, for the first time. After transforming, Gâteau immediately flies and grabs Aurélie as the latters rod changes into a new weapon: the Gâteau Baton. Aurélie then reverts back to Kirarin and smiles weakly at Gâteau who thanks him.
Édouard becomes enraged and proceeds to defend himself by spitting out countless shadow balls, only for Gâteau to counter them with his Gâteau Baton. After a long scuffle between both of them, Gâteau shoots more blobs of cream and even conjures a bridge for his friends. He then unleashes his final attack, Ichi・Ni・Sanbarashii! Miracle・Rainbow! to purify Iru, leading to Édouard's defeat. Unfortunately, by the time Édouard gets sent flying, Kirarin is already weakened. After apologizing to Gâteau, she fades away in the form of a Flavour Spark stream and Gâteau can only tearfully witness it along with the other Snack Warriors.
