The Ridewatches (ライドウォッチ Raidowotchi) are pocketwatch-like devices used by the Riders in Edge of Time: Road to the King that contain the power of past Kamen Riders.

Overview

Ridewatches are armament devices designed like stopwatches that are the power sources for Ridewatch-compatible Rider Systems. They can also grant the user abilities akin to the Riders depicted on the watches without using the power.

Similar to the Ranger Keys used by the Gokaigers, legacy Riders and certain individuals can turn their transformation devices into a Ridewatch and vice versa with other users, which is typically done of their own free will.

Creation

Ridewatch Creation

2018-A

The Ridewatches of the main Heisei-era Riders can be created through a casual temporal loop, as Sougo receives the fully manifested Ridewatch from the legacy Rider in present day and defeats their Another Rider counterparts in the past before giving the legacy Rider of that past a blank watch which will ultimately manifest into the one Sougo's past counterpart receives in the future.

While typically used to fight against the Time Jackers and the Another Riders, Woz states that this method has severe consequences as it permanently alters the timeline and "steals history", presenting a sinister aspect to this method as Riders lose their memories and powers upon Zi-O or Geiz's first usage of the respective Ridewatch. The degree of change varies from Rider to Rider, due to the villains in most Kamen Rider series having origins independent from that of the Kamen Rider who eventually faces them, though evidence of their prior existence and impact are still being seen in the altered present. However once the Rider Links were starting to be discovered by Rex Wells and company, the timeline-altering powers of the Ridewatches were lost, now simply requiring them to obtain the power after the legacy Riders accept Sougo as their successor.

2018-B

The Ridewatches for any Rider must be created via the forging of a Rider Link and one of the Zi-O Riders. The Links show themselves to the heroes after they create an unbreakable bond with the legacy Riders, thus allowing their hearts to connect to the Link to allow the Ridewatches to be created. Additionally, Ridewatches can also use the main transformation device of that legacy Rider to use as a substitute for the Rider Link if it had not been created yet.

Restrictions

Since the creation of a Ridewatch involves either time travel or bonds, they can only be created if the user is able to access to the origin of their powers, such as using a time machine to travel to the past or encountering the individuals connected to the legacy Riders. However, it is more difficult, if not impossible, to come in contact with Rider powers originating from alternate or erased/alternate continuities unless a denizen from there seeks it first.

MiRidewatch/Forgotten Ridewatch Creation

Because normal Ridewatches are created from absorbing powers of the past, it is essentially impossible to obtain a Ridewatch from Kamen Riders of the future or erased points in time using time travel, as they technically do not exist at this point in time. Due to this, the process of creating a Ridewatch from future or Forgotten Riders are fundamentally different from its regular counterpart. MiRidewatchs and Ridewatches based on Rider from the future do not necessarily share the same method, as seen with the future and Forgotten Riders in the story. However, one common step requires them to come to a realization that opens a Keyhole of Time for Sora to unlock with his Keyblade, purifying the Another Ridewatches into new Ridewatches for the Riders to use.

  • Shinobi and Hattari Ridewatches: Sora and Rex convinced Rentaro Kagura to trust himself to be Kamen Rider Shinobi in future, which allowed his heart to resist the Shinobi-no-Ninja Another Ridewatch and give Rentaro his future self's powers while granting them the Shinobi and Hattari Ridewatches.
  • Quiz MiRidewatch and Quiz Ridewatch: Conquete placed a blank Miridewatch on Mondo Douan, which had siphoned his powers into a fully functioning Quiz MiRidewatch, while Grant and Goofy were able to convince Tamotsu Douan to stay with his wife and son to endure the future together rather than slink off in shame. This allowed his heart to resist the Quiz Metaluna Another Ridewatch and restore his son's powers while giving Grant the Quiz Ridewatch.
  • Kikaider 02 MiRidewatch and Kikai Ridewatch: Using a code "WILL BE THE KING" on the revived Rento Makina's console, White Woz was able to obtain the power of Kikaider 02 while Weiss, thanks to her bonds with him and Göll, was able to help use one of the Kikai Buglights as a catylist to create the Kikai Ridewatch.
  • Amazon Omega Ridewatch and Amazon Neo Ridewatch: While it is unknown how Adam obtained the Amazon Omega Ridewatch, Rex gained the Amazon Neo Ridewatch as a last mememnt from Chihiro, whose Neo Register was used as a solo catylist to create the watch.

Special/Personal Ridewatch Creation

Aside from Ridewatches based on other Riders, the Kamen Riders of 2018-B possess their own personal Ridewatches based on essentially themselves, each created using methods unique to their own.

  • Zi-O Ridewatch: Created from a blank Ridewatch after Rex became determined to change his fate.
  • Geiz Ridewatch: Created by Geschichte Myokoin before he passed the watch down to his son Geiz
  • Zi-O II Ridewatch: Created from the fusion of Rex's powers with that of Shelton Inserga's. Temporarily lost after Rex overloaded half of the watch to banish Joffery into an eternal death loop but regained it after reconciling with his Inner Phantom.
  • Tsukuyomi Ridewatch: Created from an ancient Ridewatch discovered by Weiss, afterwards it was given form when she expressed hope

Parts

A standard Ridewatch consists of the following parts:

  • Ride On Starter (ライドオンスターター Raido On Sutātā) - The activation button on top of the Ridewatch. Turning it on will shift the Ridewatch to a standby state before either inserting it into the Ziku Driver or to allow to use the Ridewatch as a conduit for it's powers. Pressing it again will allow the Rider to execute a finisher.
  • Outrigger Grip (アウトリガーグリップ Autorigā Gurippu) - The overall exterior body of the Ridewatch. The shape stabilizes the rotation motion of the Wake Bezel and loading the Ridewatch into the Ziku Driver.
  • Wake Bezel (ウェイクベゼル Weiku Bezeru) - The dial of the Ridewatch. It is an energy release valve. By rotating it from its sleep state, which displays the Rider symbol and corresponding year date (in A.D.), to its active state, the Ridewatch becomes active, which displays the full face of the Rider.

A standard MiRidewatch consists of the following parts:

  • Miride On Starter (ミライドオンスターター Miraido On Sutātā) - The activation button located on the top. When pressed, the MiRidewatch enters a standby state to prepare itself for insertion into the Beyondriver or for use as a conduit to access the Riders' powers.
  • Outrigger Grip (アウトリガーグリップ Autorigā Gurippu) - The exterior body. The shape stabilizes loading operation into the Beyondriver by letting the user's fingers grasp the MiRidewatch in a comfortable manner.
  • Gate Activator (ゲートアクティベーター Gēto Akutibētā) - The cover/capability valve. When inserted into the Beyondriver, the Gate Activator splits, releasing the MiRidewatch's latent capabilities and allowing the Beyondriver to read its data.
  • Pict Window (ピクトウィンドウ Pikuto Uindou) - The graphics printed on the Gate Activator. Tells the user what the data and capabilities within the Miridewatch are.
  • Send Projector (センドプロジェクター Sendo Purojekutā) - The screen inside the MiRidewatch that lies concealed beneath the Gate Activator. When the Miridewatch is loaded into the Beyondriver, the Send Projector transmits data into it via super high-speed optical signals.

The Decade Ridewatch consists of the following parts:

  • Ride On Starter (ライドオンスターター Raido On Sutātā) - The activation button on top of the Decade Ridewatch. Turning it on will shift the Ridewatch to a standby state before inserting it into the Ziku Driver. Pressing it again will allow the Rider to execute a finisher.
  • Progress Cylinders (プログレスシリンダー Puroguresu Shirindā) - Two cylindrical units located between the Decade Ridewatch's 'face' and Ridewatch slot. It 'upgrades' an inserted Ridewatch's powers, allowing transition into that respective Ridewatch's Rider's upgrade or super form.
  • Ride Canceller (ライドキャンセラー Raido Kyanserā) - A black button located at the far right end of the Decade Ridewatch. It is a sort of security device that forcibly ejects Ridewatches connected to the Decade Ridewatch. Also serves as a button to release Ridewatches voluntarily.
  • Pict Window (ピクトウィンドウ Pikuto Uindou) - The main monitor that takes the form of Kamen Rider Decade's face. It can holographically display information such as time and Ridewatch icons.
  • Groove Bezel (グルーブベゼル Gurūbu Bezeru) - The Decade Ridewatch's reinforced outer frame, complete with Kamen Rider Decade's signature 'face bars'. It reinforces the Ridewatch and protects it from shock.
  • Wide Outrigger Grip (ワイドアウトリガーグリップ Waido Autorigā Gurippu) - The Decade Ridewatch's entire outer exterior. Its shape stabilizes the Ziku Driver's loading operation by letting the fingers of the Rider (when held) act as a boom (moving arm).
  • F.F.T. Slot (F.F.T.スロット F.F.T. Surotto) - A slot to attach Ridewatches to upgrade the Decade Armor.

The Zi-O Ridewatch II consists of the following parts:

  • Ride On Starter II (ライドオンスターターⅡ Raido On Sutātā Tsū) - The activation button. By entering this switch, it enters a standby state for connecting to the Ziku-Driver.
  • Outrigger Grip II (アウトリガーグリップⅡ Autorigā Gurippu Tsū) - The exterior body. It is shaped to stabilize the separation operation of the split leather and the loading operation into the Ziku-Driver by causing the fingers to function as a boom when held by hand.
  • Split Ryūzer (スプリットリューザー Supuritto Ryūzā) - The separation device of the Zi-O Ridewatch II. By rotating it it separates into the D'9 Side (D'9サイド D' 9 Saido) and D'3 Side (D'3サイド D' 3 Saido).
  • Shiny Bezel (シャイニーベゼル Shainī Bezeru) - The capability relief valve. By moving at the same time as separation, the ability of the Zi-O Ridewatch II D'3 Side becomes active
  • Pict Window (ピクトウィンドウ Pikuto Uindou) - The monitor of the Zi-O Ridewatch II. Display capabilities of the Ridewatch with icons and other information such as time is communicated in the top window projected in space.
  • Glitter Window (グリッターウィンドウ Gurittā Uindou) - The D'9 Side's graphic print of the watch. It is displayed simultaneously with separation, and the ability becomes active.
