Maldroids are Humandroids that have been hacked by HackNet and/or by the Ark who are then transformed into monsters that seek to destroy humanity. They can also be printed already in Maldroid form by the Ark.

Creation[]

To transform a normal Humandroid into a Maldroid, a Humandroid must wear (either willingly or forcefully) a Malcoder on its waist. This act will rewrite a Humandroid's protocols into HackNet's protocol to slaughter all humanity. At this point, the hacked Humandroid's eyes will shine red and no measures can recover its status back.

The Hacked Humandroid would then activate the SD Hackers to be used in conjunction with Malcoder. After the SD Hacker activation, the hacked Humandroid will revert to its true form, exposing a mechanical skeleton within. At the final stage of transformation, several tendrils exit from its mouth and changes its outer body into a Maldroid designed after the creature on the SD Hacker.

Maldroids can transform other Humandroids into Maldrones by stabbing them with tendrils and forcefully rewriting their programming. Anna and Saich showed that it is possible for a Humandroid to fight back this method of hacking.

After the death of Joel and the capture of Darren, Maldroids without Malcoders named Ark Maldroids began to appear. These Maldroids are either printed by the Ark or transformed from Humandroids wirelessly by the satellite.

History[]

Maldroids are corrupted Humandroids that came into being during the Zero Day Event thirteen years prior to the series from the pieces of their prototypical counterparts. HackNet later developed new means to create Maldroids by hacking into Humandroids that achieved technological singularity with a Malcoder. A fully reprogrammed Maldroid can use the Malcoder with a SD Hacker, a SD Programmer-like item that contains extinct animal data, to assume their battle-oriented form. There is currently no means of restoring a converted Maldroid, aside from having their A.I. backed-up and installed into a new model along with an antivirus to prevent them from being corrupted again. Upon a Maldroid's destruction, Joel salvaged their Hackers in order to use its data to restore the Ark and/or create new Maldroids.

Ark Maldroids[]

Despite HackNet seemingly disbanded following Darren's capture and Joel's destruction, the cyber-terrorists succeeded in awakening the Ark, creating Maldroids to resurface without Malcoders called Ark Maldroids that can either be printed straight from the Ark, or transformed from singularity achieving Humandroids wirelessly by the satellite. However, unlike their predecessors, Humandroids transformed were not hacked by Malcoders, meaning their A.I. are uncorrupted and a possible chance of restoring those who became Ark Maldroids.

Notes[]

  • The name Maldroid is a combination of the prefix Mal (meaning "Bad" or "Evil") and Droid/Android.
    • It can also be looked at as a reworking of the word Humandroid, which the Maldroids are created from.
  • Unlike their counterparts in Kamen Rider Zero-One, the Magia, the Maldroids are named after modern animals instead of extinct ones.
    • However, their SD Hackers are still officially based on those extinct animals.
      • Their SD Hackers also keep the name Magia on them due to the source footage.
        • One way to interpret the name Magia in this case, is the fact that it was the naming convention of a Plebian family (gens Magia)
          • Plebians and Humandroids (and Maldroids by extension) connect due to the fact that both groups are hard workers and live under a "higher class".
