Premise[]

Confronted by an evil version of one of the first game heroes he's known, Jake begins to have flashbacks to a darker time in his life, when he was falsely blamed for the death of a woman who saved his life. This ended up sending him into a bit of a spiral before he created his cheery façade. Can the real Fox help him overcome this trauma?

Plot[]

Continuing from the previous episode, the group are shocked to find out that Jake was responsible for Sarah's death as Aparoid Fox, wondering how he knew that. He soon revealed that he remembers being there and felt that it was Jake's fault that Sarah died.

Afterwards, when he went to visit her grave on the fifth anniversary of her death, Kirin gave him the Viral Gear and he decided to try and bring out the Riders to both bring them into custody to see if he could gain the bounty and use it to help his family. But when he found out that Jake was DPT, he soon realized that he could take his revenge, which was something he offered Lisa. This is what made Jake, Katy, and Lisa realize that this Puppet Fighter was Tyson, Lisa's boyfriend and Jake's older brother.

Alex soon said that whatever he wants, he didn't really care as no matter what, he's still putting innocents in danger. This made Aparoid Fox scoff at this, as he notes how he's trying to be a hero when he's nothing but a vigilante as he sends several Aparoids after the group. Luckily, Fox throws out a smoke bomb for them to escape, but ended up getting separated from Harry.

This left Lisa alone to talk to the captured Slippy and Peppy about why this was happening to her. Peppy could only guess that it was because neither she nor Jake bothered to reconcile over what had happened. He knew what any feelings of betrayal and anger could do to a person when it festered in their hearts and minds long enough, having seen it in Pigma when he became betrayed the original Star Fox team, likely chopping it up to years of playing second fiddle to himself and James McCloud, Fox's father. He soon warned Lisa and the Puppet Fighter about the dangers of these kinds of feelings, to which he was snarled at by Aparoid Fox. Lisa on the other hand, soon began to think back at the times she had been angry and disrespectful towards Jake since her best friend's death.

After reaching a safe zone, the group feel safe as Alex and Arthur take off their helmets while Katy helps Jake get healed up. The group soon asked Jake and Katy what had happened five years ago. Jake soon revealed that at first, he and Tyson were close alongside Katy and Lisa, with Tyson even being the one to introduce him to the Star Fox series.

He soon said that while she didn't just jump in front of a truck to save him, she actually used her own body as a shield to protect him from the blow. Ever since, the three ended up drifting apart as both Lisa and Tyson blamed him for her death, with him even wondering if he was worth saving.

Fox and Alex looked towards each other with surprise as the pilot told him it was alright, that he had no idea that it would have happened. He was able to relate to their anger as once upon a time, he was blinded by anger when he found out that his father's death at the hands of Andross, however it was through the help of his team that he finally placed his anger behind him.

Falco soon joked that he's the one to talk about anger since he was just as hot-headed as Alex was, something that got the group to laugh. Arthur, Katy and Alex soon vouched for Jake as the inventor knew that he was a good person and looked out for the group, Katy noted that she never blamed Jake for the accident, and finally Alex noted that he was the boy's first friend since coming to Emerald Hills, with Jack finishing with him saying that he couldn't have asked for a better partner than him.

With those words of encouragement, Fox soon told Jake that he needed to help his brother and Lisa to learn to let go of their anger towards the situation, that it was no one's fault, and help them overcome the pain much like how he had done for his friends.

Jake felt inspired by the group's kind words as he transforms once again as the group heads towards Aparoid Fox, only to run into M09 and a group of ADD soldiers appearing to arrest them on the pretense of kidnapping Katy and Harry. Alex and Arthur soon hold the ADD off while team Star Fox and Jake go confront the Puppet Fighter.

Jake tries to reason with the human inside the Puppet Fighter, hoping to try and save him. Sadly however, the Aparoid data within the Puppet Fighter was preventing Jake to reach out to him. Realizing that he needed to use Fox's power, he soon threw a blank Cyber Gear at him and absobed the corrupted data to purify it and allow him to transform into Kamen Rider DPT Star Fox Gear Shift. This prompted Aparoid Fox to use some of the pieces of the Hazard Area to create his own power armor. With that, the two flew into the sky and engaged in an aerial dogfight with Fox giving some ground support. Meanwhile, several Aparoids appeared and pinned Alex and Arthur down alongside the ADD forces. They soon decided to fight them using the Kirby Gear Shift and the Sonic the Hedgehog Gear Shift respectively as Falco and Krystal aide them.

With the battle between the hereos and both sides heating up, Kirin watched the battle with glee before Flare arrived. Kirin soon joked that it took him long enough to show up as the herald of Galeem noted that he was held up for a moment. Galeem then saw his Cyber Beast Smaug, his scout for potential Puppet Fighters, report that the world has been corrupted at 10% in Galeem's favor and 8% in Dharkon's favor due to the efforts of Team Data Squad and the ADD. This did not please Kirin as he begins to wonder what their next move.

Back with Jake and Aparoid Fox, the pair were neck and neck in terms of their speed and marksmanship. However while Aparoid Fox was much stronger, Jake was faster and had more battle experience. This angered the Puppet Fighter as he tried to use more of the Aparoid's power to empower himself. Calling on Alex and Jake, the trio then peformed the Starlink Final Smash and shot Aparoid Fox to avoid the Aparoid from fully taking over Jake's brother. While they were abel to stop the Puppet Fighter, the use of that power had left Tyson unconscious.

M09 soon decided to take Tyson in for questioning, but was unable to capture Team Data Squad. When he and the two school groups, Alex, Jake, and Arthur were able to blend back into their respective groups. Harry was able to reunite with his allies as Lisa decides to apologize to Jake and Katy about how she was acting. Jake said that he was fine, but he was worried about what the ADD will do to his brother. Luckily Kyle is able to reassure him that Tyson is just going to be degenerated of any data traces left over from the transformation. However, Jake couldn't help but worry. If the heralds chose to use his brother as a pawn to try and kill the Riders, who knew if any of the group's loved ones were safe.

As the two school groups leave however, Kyle soon walks towards M09 and talks to him about how suspicious the quartet were. M09 soon suggested that they ask for HQ to send one of their Data Riders. He nods and soon calls up someone.

In a small mansion, a young girl soon receives a call from Kyle about the recent Data Rider activity and says that she's been cleared to investigate. The girl thanks him as she hangs up and sighs that she's happy to get some work. She then turns towards an eagle Cyber Beast named Ava to ask her father if she can stay at their summer home in Emerald Hills for a moment. Ava soon says it will be done, before addressing the girl as lady Monroe.
