Epilogue: Farewell to the Stage of History (最終章 - さらば、歴史のステージ Sai shūshō - Saraba, Rekishi no Sutēji?) is the one-hundred twenty-seventh and overall final episode of Taki Gaiden: The Kunoichi Who Leapt Through Time and the forty-seventh and final episode of the second season. It is the fifth and final part of the Kamen Rider Kuuga and Kamen Rider W tribute arcs, as well as the conclusion of the alternate ending to the Zi-O TV series canon. It revisits Taki's battle with Toki from the 19th episode of the first season.

Continuity and Placement[]

Taki's battle against Toki from episode 19 in the first season is revisited in this episode. The only main difference here is that Taki fights her former mentor as a Kamen Rider.

Synopsis[]

With both the Kamen Riders' and the Soulcalibur timelines repaired, balance has been restored to the space-time continuum. Taki, however, is still stranded in the year 2018. However, when Zasalamel appears before her and offers her to return back to her time, Natsu decides to stay in the present with her friends in school, contented of her own happiness. With an emotional farewell to her friends in the present, Taki returns to the 16th century, but not without reassuring of a possible return.

Five months after the reset, Goro, still unable to move on after Taki's departure, knowing that she might never return, builds a Time Mazine with help from Sento and Katsuragi, in hopes of going into the past to tell Taki of how he feels for her before eventually letting her go for good.

The episode begins with Taki's allies in the modern era moving on with their lives following her departure back to the past, whereas Goro is still struggling to move on without Taki, due to the fact that he was unable to properly say goodbye to her. However, Black Woz visits his office and presents to him a book that chronicled the demon huntress's ordeals across space-time, along with how she saved the world as well as Ohma Zi-O's sacrifice. Confused at first, Goro found a hope to say goodbye after Black Woz told him to build a Time Mazine, with help from Sento and surprisingly, Takumi Katsuragi, now a separate individual from Sento.

Two weeks later, the Time Mazine is completed; Sento, Goro, and Banjo head to the 16th century to find Taki.

Taki then transforms into Kamen Rider Taki Genesis Type.

Black Woz appears and proclaims upon her transformation then Taki proceeds to engage Toki in a fierce battle, Taki regains control of the battle as she reunites with Gurenryu and combined into MugenryuTaki once more, defeating Toki and ending his madness once and for all.

After gaining closure with the dying Toki, Taki returns to the Fu-Ma Ninja Clan village, Shuki reveals that Taki is now exonerated from being an outcast and offers her to become the head of the clan. However, Taki declines and decided to return into the Reiwa era with her allies, declaring that her duty is complete. Notes[]

  • This is the only episode of Taki Gaiden where it doesn't include the year relevant to that particular episode.
    • In a fitting book-end to the series, the first episode is titled Prologue ~A.D. 1583~. As the season finale, the title begins with "Epilogue", indicating as a sendoff to the series.
  • Woz's speech after Taki's transformation is a callback to his speech dedicated to the latter's transformation into MugenryuTaki.
  • The revisiting of Taki's battle against Toki is symbolic with Taki's closure after resetting both the Kamen Riders' and Soulcalibur timelines. Due to the fact that during the events of Soulcalibur V, Taki went off to confirm if Toki was alive; prompting Natsu to journey to find her missing master.
  • The final scene of the episode featuring the wedding of Taki and Goro with Team Build, along with Sougo and his friends in attendance is similar to Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Ghost & Drive: Super Movie War Genesis, where the movie ends with the wedding of Shinnosuke Tomari and Kiriko Shijima, with their colleagues in the Special Investigation Unit and Shinnosuke's successor, Takeru Tenkuji are among those who attended.
    • Additionally, both Black Woz and Tsukasa Kadoya are present in the wedding. Woz ends the story by proclaiming "Rejoice to the newlyweds!" (祝え!新婚夫婦に! Iwae! Shinkon fūfu ni!?), and Tsukasa taking the picture of the newlywed Taki and Goro.
